Using the Site
Teradata Education Network Technical Requirements
9. Windows 98 and higher are generally supported, Windows XP preferred.
10. Windows Media Player 6.4 and 7.1 may require an update, Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher preferred.
11. Port 23 (Telnet port) is required to access our server at 153.65.25.24 for the Teradata SQL WBT Interactive Labs. (If you purchase access to the Teradata SQL WBTs.)
Firewall and Computer Configuration Limitations:
The four most reported firewall/configuration issues are:
· Accessing Web-based Training and Recorded Webcasts - the Teradata Education Network uses cookies. Our courseware servers are a part of teradata.com and use a cookie from teradata.com. The easiest way to enable cookies is to add *.teradata.com to your trusted sites. In Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu, Internet Options..., the Security tab, then click on Trusted Sites. Click on Sites... and under Add the web site to the zone, enter *.teradata.com.
· Accessing Live Webcasts - the Teradata Education Network uses the Live Meeting virtual classroom. The Live Meeting classroom tries to use TCP port 1270 and HTTP port 80, using the first port to respond.
· Accessing Recorded Webcasts - The Recorded Webcasts are in standard Microsoft Windows WMV format on a Microsoft Windows Media Server. The server first attempts to play the file using MMS protocol using port 1755. If this connection fails, it then tries to connect using HTTP port 80.
· Accessing the Telnet Server for Labs in the Teradata SQL WBT - Teradata provides us a UNIX server 153.65.25.24 outside the firewall for the Teradata SQL WBT Labs. You are given a UNIX login and password and a Teradata database is created with a login and password you can access using BTEQ. This connection requires the Telnet port (port 23) be open to that server.
